I visited Gidi Bar and Grill for an event that was held there. I was super excited by the current photos on Google. They look so scrumptious. I wanted something light and somewhat healthy, so I ordered the tilapia. (21.99) I wish I could go back in time and order something else. It was horrible. The head was still on the fish, and it's was so spicy it was inedible. I took one bite and I pushed it to the side. The server asked if was ok. I explained I was not happy with the dish and couldn't eat it. She took my plate, and didn't ask if she could replace it with something else. If you go. I hope your experience is better than mine....

So, one day I saw this little spot and noticed they had a nice bar, it is right in my neighborhood. I thought it would be nice to have a happy hour. It is also an African restaurant with some American flair, and I haven’t had African food, so I was happy to try. However, I met and talked with the bartender who ended up being so sweet, her name was Raja! She made me this amazing spicy drink, I had 2 and decided to head out and didn’t eat. The atmosphere was fun and there was a good vibe. On another occasion we weren’t ready to call it a night so we decided to stop in for a drink. This is when we discovered the restaurant crosses over into a lounge/club vibe after dinner hours. They have hookah available a DJ and a great scene. Raja was still there, I apologize if I didn’t spell her name right, also there was a promoter there named Leonard and he was super helpful and sweet. The guy that sells the hookah is also very nice and answered all my crazy flavor questions and then just hooked it up with something he thought I would like, came to check on us and made sure that we had a great experience. We left and my friend returned the following weekend. And again raved about the vibe! Check them out! I didn’t give them 5 stars for the simple fact that service is slow, you have a wait time for most things, but service is good if you are patient. Enjoy the vibe and company while you wait.

We ran across Gidi Bar & Grill by accident, but we're so glad that we did! This place has a wonderful blend of foods on its West African Fusion menu. I loved the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, and my wife enjoyed the Spicy Roasted Ginger Chicken. The Jollof Rice was fantastic as well.

If you enjoy goat, spicy foods and cocktails then here is your little gem in Frisco. Great for gathering with friends, first dates or business meetings. Food is very good and cocktails are good and priced right. They have happy hours during the week and ladies night special after 9pm on Saturday. I will definitely come back here again. My server was very kind and courteous. Thank you for a great memory captured with friends. ENJOY!
